Covenant College
Dear student or alumni of Covenant College,
Welcome to the Equality Ride website. We are working towards acceptance of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) students at religious and military schools such as Covenant College.
Covenant College is currently a school that has policies in place that discriminate against GLBT students. You can click here to read the anti-gay policies at several schools, including Covenant College.
Gay students at Covenant College are forced to live a lie throughout their college life. They know that if they were to tell the truth about their sexual orientation, they would surely be expelled.
And so school year after school year, Covenant College continues to give a lesson in real-world oppression. However the young activists of the Equality Ride know that change is coming. The inclusive Spirit of God is at work bringing gay people out of the closet and enabling them to live authentic, healthy, abundant lives. The students of the Equality Ride bear witness to that Spirit and will be launching a bus tour to religious and military schools in 2006 in hopes of creating positive change.
In the meantime, however, we are gearing up for the ride. One of the most important things we are doing is trying to reach out to current GLBT students at Covenant College and other schools. We want you to know that you are not alone and that God loves you exactly as you are.
We are also trying to collect stories. Stories of closeted gay students who are currently attending Covenant College and also stories from alumni. Would you be willing to share your story with us?
Already stories are coming in and we are posting them under the Student Stories section of the Equality Ride website. Please take a moment to read some of them and be assured that you are not alone. Afterwards, if you would like to share your story, you can do so by emailing it to jake@equalityride.com.
God Bless You!
